Nathan Ayer, of EarthShift, presented “Salmon Farming Technology Assessment: Comparative LCA of Atlantic Salmon Culture in Copper-Alloy and Nylon Net Pens in Chile,” at the LCA XIII Conference, Orlando, Fla, October 2013. This study is important because it demonstrates that copper-alloy mesh has a lower environmental impact across the board when compared to nylon nets. EarthShift is one of the most respected LCA consulting firms in North America.

Dr. Murat Yigit, of Canakkale Onsekiz Mart University in Turkey, described his experiences with copper-alloy mesh and sea bream to the Australasian and Asian fish farming community at a recent conference in Japan. The presentation, highlighting the efficacy of copper-alloy mesh outside the salmonid arena, was very well received by attendees at the High Value Aquaculture Fin Fish Symposium in Kagoshima, Japan.
